the hardest part about ordering esgargot this trip was finding out from French colleagues how much of a tourist dish this is. as someone who puts butter in its own food group, i've always enjoyed the dish but this was disappointing (and mildly embarrassing). enjoyed some delicious madeleines by léa linster (gold medal winner of the bocuse d'or and only woman to win this) and got to go back to belle ciao and order their truffle pasta (which i enjoyed on a previous visit). it's amazing my clothes still fit when i left.

i got to enjoy some later evening sunsets (than DC) which left more time for walking after some long work hours. there was so much lush greenery to appreciate, especially in the sun. while everything is still pretty close together (much smaller than DC), there's still a solid amount of green space to run around. a colleague had mentioned the lack of runners (as you normally see in places like central park, nyc or on lakeshore drive, Chicago or the strand in the south bay) and we gathered that perhaps folks don't actively work out because they just live healthier lifestyles that involve walking.

on my way home (avoiding layovers), i decided to fly to berlin (through munich because who doesn't want to be on a plane every single day) before flying home out of frankfurt. i absolutely loved seeing and catching up with an old friend that is now based in europe (so jealous) and enjoyed the cinnamon rolls but could have done without having to take 3 different forms of transportation to get from the airport to the hotel because the trains were down or getting scammed into paying a train ticket (i take public transportation on the regular! this was not user error!) did love the sezane pop up and good weather.
