for the first time (and possibly unwantedly) checked off a box of taking 5 flights in 5 days. got home from europe for a quick (but overdue) root canal (this is yet another gift from my 2023 fall) and some surprisingly cool temporary tattoos with my girl Em who played hooky from school (ok she might have really been sick but i love her too much to care about her germs - i, too, don't know who i am not avoiding the child ick).

in 2018 it seemed like i went to at least half a dozen weddings and sporadically afterwards baby showers started showing up on my calendar. well, this year has been for milestone birthdays. my second 50th birthday party and first time in buffalo, i got to hang out with my favorite (concert) people, see niagara falls, and have buffalo wings! it was a bit of a struggle to get in and out of buffalo, and one of our friends ended up not making it out because of weather and flight delays, but it was totally worth the journey. i stayed in a cute walkable area and got to explore some storied (insane asylum) architecture by h h richardson. also, had to pay my respects to someone i deeply respect, shirley chisholm.
